Vintage 1993 “Dutch Barbie” Dolls of the World #11104 NRFB + Happy Meal Figurine

I lived in The Hague for four months, and it was only during a day trip to the country that I saw someone wearing the wooden shoes we associate with Holland. The two little girls wearing the shoes told us that they wore them only when they were knocking around their farm to keep their feet out of the mud. What is definitely authentic with this doll is the doll’s blond hair and blue eyes. If Mattel had given her a compact car and a pair of matching dogs, the Dutch picture would have been complete. The cultural information on the back includes all of the wonderful things The Netherlands has to offer.
The doll is wearing the native costume of Volendam. The bonnet is amazing, and the embroidery on the bodice and waistskirt is reflected on the box’s design. Barbie’s white wooden shoes and a blue brush are in their sealed bag in plain view, and a stand is included if you wish to display the doll outside of her box. Her accessories also include red button earrings and ring. This doll was also featured as one of McDonald’s Happy Meal toys, and I will include it, also still in the original, unopened package.
The box displays especially well. Note that there is some writing at the top—the date 12-25-93 and the price .94 and a name. I do not see any other issues, just VERY minor scuffing on the cello.
