Condition: This offering is for a vintage circa 1960's pottery pig planter made by Norman Smith. Mr. Smith was a folk potter who worked in Lawley Alabama. This pig was made as a planter and has a drip hole in the belly. As such there would not have been a lid. There was likely a tail on it originally but it is missing now. The pig measures app. 11" long and 6.75" high. There are two chips on the end of it's snout, both have a brown stain on them but I do not see any glaze so they are likely post production. There are also some flakes and chipping on the inside edge of the opening on it's back that are dark brown so the same probably holds true with them. Overall the pig displays well and considering it was intended for heavy use as a planter the condition is pretty nice.
