Description

The Robinson Ransbottom Pottery has been in operation since 1900. The Ransbottom brothers had learned about pottery making from their father, Alfred, a pioneer in the Ohio pottery industry. Alfred had been actively engaged in pottery making before volunteering for service in the Union Army at the outbreak of the Civil War. Following his discharge in 1865, he operated the Bluebird Potteries on farms in Perry and Muskingum Counties. One of these was located just north of Roseville. It was here that Alfred taught the age-old skills of pottery making to each of his sons.
Although we are unsure of the year this piece was produced, now even Fido can own a piece of history with this HEAVY Dog Bowl. I don’t care how big he is - he’s going to have trouble knocking over this dish! It’s pretty big, too - over 7.5” in diameter and about 2.25” deep.
This sturdy dish has the word “DOG” printed in brown. On the bottom is printed “R.R.P. Co. Roseville, O. U.S.A #200 7.5”. It is a glazed mustard yellow-colored bowl, with a rough texture around the rim and base (to prevent slipping?). Other than manufacturer flaws, there are a few small chips on the underside as shown in the last picture.
